Strelitzia is the official name of this flower, but its commonly known as bird of paradise or crane flower (in South Africa). As common as they are in Southern California you frequently run into ones that are similar to the cropped flower in the top left, its rare to find ones that are as vibrant and alive as the one in the center of the image

A lily of Nile that I saw in Coronado Island. Apparently we’ve had more than the average expected rainfall in San Diego this year and I think its noticeable with how the flowers are blooming this year and I do remember quite a few rainy weekends this year. Happy Friday
