2012Victorian Architecture

Victorian Architecture is very prevalent in downtown Toronto and thats probably due to the fact that Canada was a British Colony until it obtained its independence from Great Britian (not sure exactly when but I think its sometime in the last 20-30 years). This particular image is on the Northern edge of the University of Toronto Campus (Bloor St.), typically this is a very crowded area during the day and this was right after lunch time. I stood there for a while until I could get a “clear” view, sometimes photography is about practicing your patience 
As an update to yesterday’s post, I just wanted to say who would’ve thought that social media works! Pretty much here is what I did:
- I phoned the on-duty manager and spoke to her in person –> went nowhere with this!
- I emailed the web designer that supported them –> no response, no surprise
- I emailed Qualcomm Stadium to see if they can help me bring the image down –> no response, no surprise again
- I decided to tweet the courtyard account (on Friday) and asked them to take it down –> no response
- I wrote the blog post yesterday and within 8 hrs of publishing it the image was finally removed.
I don’t know what exactly did it, but I would recommend that you use social media if you go through a similar case. I didn’t over do it so that I don’t water down my “cause” and I think that was key, just speculating though… Enjoy your weekend everyone

Congrats on resolving the ordeal with Marriott…diligence (and the megaphone of social media) paid off!

Nice atmospheric with the clouds and the subject.
Glad the Marriott thing is resolved. Makes one wonder how many photos out there are being lifted without consequence. It’s not like any of them outfits couldn’t afford to pay a little something.

I hear you, I want to write a script that goes through all my gallery and runs it via google image search I have a feeling I won’t be too pleased with the results!! They officially apologized to me this morning via Twitter and they took the image down. They could’ve paid me a small amount and kept it but they chose not too, ah well… you win some, you lose some

How do you go about doing an image search….. are you actually using your image to search? I didn’t know you could do that. I was just doing a jigsaw puzzle online the other night and came across something that looked pretty close to one I’d done (and posted), but didn’t have the time to search for my version to compare.

Just go to images.google.com and drag your image onto the search bar… it is that simple. Someone showed me this trick, I didn’t figure it out on my own

Very victorian. Looks like a beautiful place. In my opinion, Mariott STILL owes you money for using your image. They owe you for the time they used it. They are a big hotel enterprise–they KNOW they owe you and that nothing is for free in their world. Would it be okay if I just walked into one of their hotels and stole a room key? Hell no. I bet there is some kind of lawsuit on them right now … it may not be for this, but trust me, there is one somewhere. If you can find one, it might be a good idea just to contact that attorney and tell them what happened. They may or may not be able to get a small payment for you.

I like how you put it with the room keys… I’ll see if I can find anything but I’m sure I’ll drop it pretty soon, coming up on a very hectic part of the year with school & work! This was a learning experience for the future…
